A Practice Built on Precision, Not Performance
My story
My name is Laura Lloyd, and I've been practicing and teaching yoga almost 20 years. My teaching journey started in Houston, Texas. There I taught group classes and private one-to-one yoga all over town—and a pattern emerged that I couldn't ignore.
In group classes, I'd watch people struggle. No matter how many modifications I offered, their bodies weren't ready for even some of the basic postures. In private sessions, I'd hear stories of yoga injuries, PT that plateaued, and chronic pain that nobody seemed able to explain, let alone resolve. The more I learned about biomechanics and therapeutic application, the more I realized that most yoga — even "alignment-based" yoga — wasn't designed for bodies in pain.
So I shifted my focus entirely.
Therapeutic yoga became the center of my practice. I studied movement assessment, pain science, breath physiology, and nervous system regulation. I learned to think like a clinician while teaching like a yoga instructor. The results were deeply rewarding: clients who'd been in pain for years started moving without fear. Post-surgical clients rebuilt confidence. People who'd been told "this is just how it is now" discovered it wasn't.
In mid-2024, I relocated to Fort Myers, Florida. Same approach. New community. I grew up in the Orlando area, so it's great to be home.

My philosophy
Your body is not a machine. It's an ecosystem.
Physical therapy often treats the body like a car — find the broken part, fix the broken part, send you on your way. But pain is rarely that simple. It's shaped by stress, sleep, breathing patterns, emotional state, and the stories we tell ourselves about what our bodies can and can't do.
Therapeutic yoga addresses all of it. We work the physical piece — strength, mobility, stability. We work the breath piece — because how you breathe affects everything from pelvic floor function to anxiety levels. And we work the mindset piece — because if you're bracing for pain every time you move, your nervous system may be keeping you stuck regardless of what your tissues are actually capable of.
Good care is coordinated care. That's why open communication with your medical providers is woven into how I practice.

A note on scope of practice
I want to be upfront about what therapeutic yoga is — and what it isn't — so you know exactly what to expect.
I am not a physical therapist; I don't diagnose conditions or provide medical treatment.
I'm not a massage therapist, so there's no hands-on manual therapy.
And while our work often touches on the mind-body connection, therapeutic yoga isn't a substitute for mental health care.
What I do is assess movement, identify patterns that may be contributing to your pain or limitation, and use yoga-based techniques to restore function, reduce discomfort, and build body awareness . If something falls outside what I can help with, I'll let you know and point you toward the right provider.
Let's work together
Whether you're dealing with chronic pain, recovering from surgery, or simply tired of feeling disconnected from your body there's a path forward. One-to-one or in a group. And your healthcare providers are always welcome at the table.
